Faces of Belief | Zhou HanShun Photography

Since the beginning of human history, it is human nature to seek answers in the heavens and the spiritually unknown. In Chinese culture and folklore, those seeking answers and wishes pray in front of the statues of gods and deities in temples.

I often wonder what would the gods and deities see or feel or encounter on a daily basis.

Taken from a viewpoint directly in front of the devotees at the Wong Tai Sin temple in Hong Kong, a Taoist temple famed for the many prayers answered, this project examines the notion of "praying to" and "being prayed to".
