On the beaches along the coastal areas of Singapore, blessed religious statues or idols that were once worshipped and prayed to, are now abandoned or discarded. Some are broken, while others are pristine. It is a common practice to discard these “sacred” objects either under a tree or close to the sea. This project examines the fragility of religious belief in the highly urbanized city and "throwaway" society, by documenting these ”abandoned" blessed religious statues or idols, found along the coastal areas of Singapore.
